Book Report #1: Tales from the House of Bunnicula Book 6: The Odorous Adventures of Stinky Dog

Every month, my teacher has us do a book report. This month I chose "Tales from the House of Bunnicula Book 6: The Odorous Adventures of Stinky Dog" by James Howe. Like many Tales from the House of Bunnicula Books, this one is a spoof.

STORY: A young Wirehaired Dachsund named Howie Monroe lives in Center City. Crimes are happening everywhere, and it is illegal for dogs to be stinky. One Day, Howie Monroe is wallowing around in a trash heap, and a bolt of lightning hits his favorite fire hydrant near the heap, transforming him into STINKY DOG! A superhero dog endowed with the Power of SUPER STENCH!!! Will Stinky Dog defeat his nemesis, Bath-Man, the source of all "Sweet Smelling-ness" ? Read it to find out!

I thought it was hilarious because the author used funny lines and wrote it from the point of view of Howie. Also, the in-between entries in Howie's Writing Journal are hilarious. :-)

Here is an excerpt from the Book: "...'What was that?' Chester the cat cried out in alarm. 'It sounded like a Kerrashhh to me.' said the keenly aware Dauchsund Puppy. 'Let's investigate' said Harold. They all jumped on to the Sofa and peered out from behind the living room curtains. Howie couldn't believe his keenly observant eyes. A large garbage truck had just KERRASHHHed into a fire hydrant. (His favorite fire hydrant too, but never mind.) in front of the house. Garbage was tumbling out of the truck while water sprayed through it, turning it into a big, gooey, soupy, smelly mess. ..."
